Tolerance Band
The configurable range around the growth target within which the gate permits action — proposals that would push the portfolio outside this band are rejected.
The tolerance band defines how much deviation from the growth trajectory the gate allows. A growth target of 8% with a tolerance of 1% means the gate permits actions that keep the portfolio between 7% and 9% annualized trajectory.
When the portfolio is within the band, the gate evaluates proposals normally. When the portfolio approaches the band edge, the gate becomes more restrictive — rejecting proposals that would push further from target. This is not discretion — it is a mechanical constraint based on the configured parameters.
The user sets both the growth target and the tolerance in the builder. A narrow tolerance (0.5%) produces a bot that rejects more proposals and trades less frequently. A wide tolerance (5%) gives the strategy more room to operate. The tradeoff is between discipline tightness and trading activity.
